Ex- Military Chief Says Next Nigerian War Will Be In The Forest

On Thursday, Abayomi Olonisakin, former Chief of Defence Staff said Nigerian’s next warfare and crisis will be in the forests.

Abayomi Olonisakin made this remark while being screened at the National Assembly for an ambassadorial position.

The retired military general disclosed that a research he conducted on forests three years ago showed that Nigeria has over one thousand forest reserves and there is an urgent need to man and protect the forests which have become hideouts for criminals.

World’s Bank Report in 1992 also revealed that Nigeria’s forest reserves covered 10% of the country’s total land area.

Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo State Governor has ordered earlier this year that illegal occupants to vacate the state’s forest reserves sparking a national conversation on land use and appropriation.
